FG approves fire zonal office in Anambra – FFS boss

 

The Controller General Federal Fire Service (FFS) Engr. Joseph Garba Anebi has said that the federal government had approved the establishment of Fire Service Zonal Headquarters in Awka, Anambra state, to cover the entire South East.
The CG disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Anambra state governor recently.
He declared that the decision to establish the zonal headquarters in the state, was borne out of the dare need to curb the wanton destruction of lives and property in the state which he said was “known to house the largest market in the West Africa Sub-region with countless industries, investments worth Billions of Naira and a teeming population, is no doubt the right one.”
Anebi confirmed that arrangement was ongoing for the deployment of a brand new fire fighting truck and personnel to complement and supplement the efforts of the state.
He also pledged to deploy more fire engines to the state, as the service acquires more to cover Onitsha, Nnewi, Aguleri and others, considering the industries, market and Airport in these locations.
Meanwhile, speaking recently at the at the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the North-west zonal office command and commissioning of newly acquied fire fighting trucks and water tankers for his agency in Kano, the CG reiterated his commitment toward ensuring that fire disasters are reduced to the bearest minimum, through advocacy, provision of modern fire fighting equipment and trained personnel.
While thanking Kano state governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for the support given to the Service by providing land for the North-west zonal office, Anebi said his leadership was working hard to ensure that fire disaster no longer destroy the economy of the country.
In his address, Minister of Interior Lt. Gen. Abdulrahram Bello Dambazau, also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, for making the event possible through budgetary provisions and releases.
