FG calls for input on EIA reports

Th e federal government has called for stakeholders’ input on the draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Acts which report was submitted by the North East Winds Limited on behalf of Northern Noodles Limited. Th e Ministry of Environment said in a recent publication signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shehu Ahmed, that the proposed project would be such that would convert local coal from nearby states to coal slurry after subjecting it to the process of crushing and mixing with water.

Th e ministry, through a public notice, appealed to the public to take of the 21 working days notice to pass on necessary information and comments on the draft document. “Th e coal slurry will be used as a fuel in boiler which is considered a feasible alternative to the heavy fuel oil currently used as a boiler fuel. “Th e main components of the coal water slurry include coal, water and additives input in the coal milling process to create a liquid fuel with similar fl ow properties as oil.
