FG committed to industrial harmony-JNPSNC

The federal government has said that the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC) remains the only platform for sustained cooperation amongst the respective entities of government and labour at the national and sub- national level in order to ensure industrial harmony.

Permanent Secretary, service welfare department in the Office of the Head of Service of the federation, and chairman of council Dr. Evelyn Ngige , stated this in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State during the opening session of 2018 meeting of the JNPSNC.

She said “The meeting is a platform for various entities of government and labour at national and sub national levels to facilitate industrial peace and harmony in the public sector nationwide.”

She said that the industrial unrest in country is largely caused by lack of communication between employers and employees.

She assured workers that henceforth, meetings of council would be held at due time.

She said delegates at the meeting have committed themselves to the principle of collective for improved welfare and better condition of service for workers in the country’s  public service.

She advised “government and trade union to continue with the principles of collective bargaining and mutual respect at all levels in order to ensure that the objectives of the meeting are attained”.
