FG conducts sensitisation on mouth disease in Jigawa

The federal ministry of health have embarked on sensitization exercise on mouth disease, also known as Noma, in Jigawa state. The leader of the delegation from ministry, Dr Bola Longe, who disclosed this while speaking to reporters yesterday in Dutse, said “we are here to educate, improve awareness with a view to eradicate the mouth disease in the state.” Dr Longe explained that they had organised a sensitization seminar in Dutse with 50 participants drawn from Jigawa and Katsina states, were they taught participants how to take care of their mouths and teach people in their respective homes.

Also speaking, the state Director of National Orientation Agency, Malam Shuaibu Haruna, said, “we are moving higher to partner with FMOH to execute the programme which is train the trainers on prompt diagnosis treatment of oral disease including Noma.

“I wish to state that the FMOH and NOA will explore other areas in which people need assistance on healthissues for sustainable collaborations.” Speaking to Blueprint, One of the participants, Aisha Abdullahi, from Katsina state said: “we have learnt a lot about several mouths diseases including noma and if we return home we will teach our people on how to take care their mouths.”

Another participant, Sani Muhammad from Jigawa state reiterated that “we were taught on how to identify the mouth disease and rush the victims to the hospital for immediate attention”.
