FG empowers 578 needy in Bauchi


The federal government through the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons on Saturday empowered 578 needy in Shira local government area of Bauchi state.


The federal commissioner of the commission in charge of north east Senator Basheer Garba Mohammed while distributing the empowerment materials said the donation was meant for people tagged ‘Persons of Concern’ under the commission.


Represented by the zonal coordinator of the commission Abdullahi Ahmad Kaoje, the commissioner said the items donated were food stuffs and occupational equipments such as grinding machines, sewing machines and house utensils that include pots, stoves, bowls, buckets, mattresses, blankets and mats adding that they were meant to alleviate poverty and suffering of the beneficiaries.


He noted that the commission is currently carrying out distribution of such items to the persons of concern in many states of the federation while also embarking on construction of massive housing units to resettle displaced persons in parts of the country.


According to him, the housing project tagged ‘IDPs Resettlement Cities’ consist of 600 units of two bedrooms each in the four crises states namely; Borno, Zamfara, Katsina and Edo which will be furnished and equipped with facilities for education, worship, skills acquisition and farmlands.


Also speaking, a member of the federal house of representatives representing Shira and Giade local governments Honourable Kani Abubakar Faggo represented by Mansur Lawal who facilitated the donation from the commission promised to influence more welfare programs in the constituency.


He advised the beneficiaries to reciprocate the federal government’s gesture by making good use of the items distributed to improve their well being.
