FG extends emergency rule in Adamawa, Borno, Yobe

The National Defence Council has approved the extension of the current state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.

Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, said yesterday: “We just reviewed the issue of the state of emergency and the government would be requesting the National Assembly to extend it.”
Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting of the defence council, the minister said the request for extension of the emergency rule from the Presidency to the National Assembly would be done immediately.

The meeting, chaired by President Goodluck Jonathan, was attended by Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, National Security Adviser (NSA), Minister of Defence, Minister of Police Affairs, Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff and the Inspector General of Police.
