FG harps on full implementation of NWRCBNet manual

In line with its objectiveof strengthening human capacity in water resources management, the FederalGovernment has advocated full implementation of National Water ResourcesCapacity Building Network (NWRCBNet) Operational Manual.
In a statement signed onbehalf of the head, Press and Public Relations unit, Mr Attari Hope Monday andmade available to Blueprint yesterday, the executive director, National WaterResources Institute, Kaduna, Dr. Emmanuel Adanu, in Illorin, Kwara State whenhe  led a delegation on Advocacy visit to the Vice- Chancellor andManagement  of University of Ilorin stated this.

Dr. Adanu, who according tothe statement was represented by the director of research and technical servicesof the institution, Dr. Dogara Bashir, said that the network has helped tobridge the human capacity and skill gaps in the water sector.  He added that it has alsoserved as platform for sharing multi-disciplinary information, experience,skills, materials, tools and knowledge in building capacity in the sector.

While presenting theOperational Manual to the Vice- Chancellor, Dr. Dogara, commended the Universityfor the commencement of the professional master’s degree programme onIntegrated Water Resources Management. He called on the University to continuewith the programmes based on the Operational Manual as this would improveefficiency.  Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali promisedto work in compliance with the manual.

“We need to take intoconsideration the sustainability of the Network centre, because the importantrole water plays in the life of our people and the nation. While quite a numberof people can do with shortage of electricity light, but the same people cannotdo with shortage in water supply which is pivotal to human development”, heexplained.
