The Federal Government has made moves to reimburse Plateau state for road projects carried out by the state, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor of the state, Dr. Makut Macham, has said.
Macham in a statement he issued in Jos on Monday said a Federal Government team on the verification of the state’s interventions on federal road infrastructure had visited Jos to assess the road projects carried out by the state government to make refunds.
He said the team led by the Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo, was in the state on the directive of the president based on the submission made by the governor.
Macham also said the governor had requested the refund of funds expended by the state government on various federal road projects and bridges such as the British-American Flyover and dual carriageway to Lamingo Junction Roundabout.
He said projects inspected included Heipang-Mararaban Jama’a Heipang, Mararaban Jama’a British American Junction, Secretariat Flyover Bridge, Polo Roundabout to Farin Gada, and British American Junction Flyover.
Others visited are the ongoing construction of Demshin-Angwan Dadi-Kalong-Nyak, Shargan-Angwan Rina road (42.49km), and rehabilitation of Longvel-Yelwa-Mato Road (42km).
Macham said the minister described the projects as people- oriented and impactful to the citizens of Plateau and others from other states who use them.
He said the minister stated that the visit constituted part of the ministerial committee to assess road projects that were undertaken by the Plateau government on designated federal highways to reimburse the state government with monies expended in carrying out such projects, saying that the minister was highly impressed by the quality of the work.
He said the Deputy Governor of Plateau, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, who received the team, noted that the verification of the projects being carried out by the committee was evidence that the administration had been working.
