FG provides interventions to flood victims in Jigawa

The federal government has flagged off the distribution of relief materials to flood victims, who lost most of their farms and houses in Jigawa state.

The distribution was flagged off on Thursday, at the Manpower Development Institute Dutse, by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Investment, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk.

She said, “Upon receiving the news of the unfortunate incident, President Muhammad Buhari directed my ministry to activate National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to join hand with State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), to asses and respond immediately”, Sadiya Faruk said.

“Therefore, seven LGAs of Hadejia, Kafinhausa, Balangu, Birniwa, Kiri – kasamma, Kaugama and Malam-madori were identified as the most affected communities.”

The Minister further appealed the authorities concerned, particularly, the state and local governments to extend their support to the victims.

The Minister has also flagged-off the federal government cash grant to vulnerable groups in Jigawa state.

She said about 5,000 vulnerable people would benefit from the grant across 27 local government in the state.

She added that the cash grant of N20,000 each, is one among many federal government programmes that uplifted about 100 million Nigerian from poverty.

She, however, urged the beneficiaries to boost their business accordingly to make their lives better.
