FG reaffirms commitment to macro-economic policies

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the development and implementation of consistent and enhanced quality of macro economic and sectoral policies in the country.
This was made known by the Secretary to the National Planning Commission (NPC), Ntufam Fidel Ugbo, at the opening of a workshop on policy development in federal MDAs in Abuja.

The workshop was organised by the Commission in collaboration with the Federal Public Administrative Reform Programme Nigeria (FEPAR) to strengthen the capacities of MDAs in policy planning and analysis.
Ugbo said credible frameworks had been established by the government for the effective realisation of the objectives of the transformation agenda of the government.

“In particular, the National Economic Management Team (NEMT), as well as the Economic Management Implementation Team (EMIT) and the National Economic Council (NEC) have been constituted to facilitate effective coordination of policies, strategic plans and budgets at the Federal and State levels.

“At the technical level, the Forum of Directorate of planning, Research and statistics (DPRS), Joint planning Board and the National Council on Development Planning (NCDP) also serves as very useful framework for effective formulation and implementation of polices and strategic plans in Nigeria” he said.
He charged the officials of all Directorates in the federal and states’ public service to be actively involved in policy formulation and implementation.
