FG to commission executive hostel, other projects at NITT

Minister of State for Transport Senator Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki, will Thursday, commission multi-million naira Executive hostel to cater for high ranking students of Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria and other Projects.

The Director General of the Institute, Dr Bayero Salih Farah dropped the hint while conducting Journalists on faculty  tour at the Institute’s premises.

He said some of the projects expected to be commissioned by the Minister includes executive hostel, Information and Communication Technology Centre (ICT) which was upgraded, new Director General’s office complex, multi-Media laboratory with state-of-the-art communication facility among others.

“NITT promotes career development and professional certification, corporate leadership and strategic management, training, conducts research and advisory services, engages in Transport intelligence and monitoring activities and adapts transport technology to suit Nigeria’s needs.

“Since inception, the institute has recorded several milestone as well as grappled with challenges ranging from indequate funding, poor visibility and low patronage of its academic programs and services despite huge potentials and facilities.” Dr Farah complained

However, he explained that changing the narrative became a major policy issue of the institute’s new Governing Council and management.

The Institute’s Boss further said that one of his institute major objectives was to visibility in such a way that the world would know what was going in the institute with view to draw the needed attention and patronage.

Dr Farah was boasting of revolutionising the institute programmes and service upon his assumption of office in acting capacity in 2019 situation that warranted the institute to organised a well-attended Retreat in Kaduna in September, 2019 during which the new face of the Institute was unveiled with clear-cut direction.

He said “My confirmation as the substantive Director General/ Chief Executive of the institute came shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in Nigeria with its adverse effects on the global economy, the Institute defied the odds by recording modest achievements.”
