FG to deploy more security personnel to Zamfara – Gbajabiamila

The federal government has said there is plan in the pipeline to deploy adequate security personnel to Zamfara in order to bring to end the insecurity challenge following the activities of gunmen in the last  eight years.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Femi Gbajabiamila stated this when  he visited the state as part of his assessment tour at a town hall meeting with relevant stakeholders at the Government House, Gusau, Sunday.

He said the security challenge in Zamfara was due to high level of poverty, illiteracy and frustration.

He stated that the federal government would do everything humanly possible to develop the state, especially the 14 local councils and there would be  establishment of skills acquisition centres in each of the three senatorial districts to improve skills acquisition and entrepreneurship aimed at making the citizens self dependent.

The speaker said the ratio of security personnel to citizens in the country was low, adding that it does not meet the best international practices. He stated that the federal government will recruit thousands of security personnel, particularly officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force and Nigerian Army with a view to meeting the best international practices in the country.

“Indeed, the plan to recruit more security personnel would no doubt improve security, job creation and national economic growth and development,” he said.
