FG to reconstruct 350km roads in Jigawa – Badaru

Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubkar, has said  the federal government has concluded arrangements  to commence the re-construction of Kwanar Dumwa to Babban Mutum, Nigeria’s border with the Niger Republic, about 150 kilometers.

The governor stated this during the presentation of N25million scholarship awards to 5,000 students of universities and other tertiary institutions across the country by the member representing Birnin/Buji federal constituency, Magaji Da’u Aliyu at the Birni Kudu Centraln Primary School, Saturday.

The governor stated that the federal government will soon  begin the reconstruction of Gaya to Jahun , Kafin Hausa to Gamayin up to Hadejia which was over 200 kilometers,  adding that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at its last Wednesday meeting  presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari,   approved the  construction of Kwanar Dumwa to Babban Mutum road,  while  contract for Gaya to Hadejia would soon be awarded.

He said those projects have become a reality through his efforts and that of members of the National Assembly representing Jigawa state. Governor Badaru stated that those two important roads were dilapidated for over 25 years and were abandoned by successive governments in the country. He commended President Buhari for his commitment towards the rehabilitation of the roads.

 The governor revealed that the funds sourced by his government for Islamic Development Bank will be used for executing various development projects across villages and towns, adding that the Birnin Kudu General Hospital project will be completed in the next two weeks.

He commended Magaji Da’u Aliyu, for executing various constituency projects, which he said, has reduced heavy responsibility on his government.

In his good will message, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gabjabiamila, described  Magaji  as an epitome of those promoting peace and unity between the North and South, adding: ”If we can get 10 National Assembly members like him, Nigeria will continue to remain single, indivisible entity.”

The speaker, who was represented by the Leader of the House, Hon Alhassan Ado Doguwa, said they were proud of the role Magaji has been playing in preaching peace  and unity among Nigerians, adding that the lawmaker performed excellently in job creation and  execution of constituency projects for his people.
