FG to take over Abia Polytechnic – Council Chairman

Following the motion moved by the honorable member representing Abia North and South at the federal house of Representatives, Uzor Azubuike at the floor of the House, and the subsequent approval by the House of Representatives, the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba is set to be taken over by the Federal Government takeover the institution.

The Chairman Governing Council of the polytechnic, Christopher Enweremadu disclosed this in a chat with newsmen in his country Isiala Ngwa home, stating that it is the duty of the current Governing Council of the Polytechnic to create enabling platform to ensure the takeover is actualize.

As a governing council, he said they welcome the development and is doing all that is humanly possible to actualize this, stating that they are conscious of the benefit the development will bring to state and polytechnic generally.
Towards achieving this, Enweremadu said governor Theodore Orji has approved an increase in subvention to the polytechnic from N25million to N90 million monthly Since the inception of the present governing council in January, with all being efforts of state to position the polytechnic for further development and takeover by the Federal Government.

The institution he also said, is more than ripe to be acquired by Federal Government, and is the aspiration of polytechnic to create a ratio of 70-30% between pure science and social science courses.
