FG trains fresh 60 ex-militants on fish farming in Edo

As part of efforts geared towards re-integrate and reduced unrest in the Niger Delta region, the federal government under its Amnesty Programme has trained 60 exmilitants from the oil producing communities in Edo and Delta states on fish farming. The ex-agitators were taking through the process of entrepreneurship skills, fish processing, breeding and feed production. The federal government had handed the ex-militants the option of choosing trades they need empowerment in order to ensure success of the programme.
Facilitator of the one week entrepreneurship refresher training, Princess Ethel Eweka, of Obax World Wide, said the ex-militant were being trained on fish farming in order to be self employed as well as employers of labour. He said: “The training is in segments, the first segment was to train them on fish farming, fish processing while the third segment is equipping them with all the tools needed to start business like land, feeds, fish pond, water tank, borehole, generator among others.
“The federal government will open an account for them (beneficiaries), registered a business name for them with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and monitor them for three months to know their challenges and ensure success of the programme.”
