FG unveils YPP


The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment has launched the Young Professional Programme (YPP) to encourage skills acquisition among young officers in the Ministry.
The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Otunba Adebayo, while speaking at the launch of YPP explained that skill acquisition among the youths was a guarantee measure of creating Micro and small enterprises that can grow the economy.


According to him, the program which was a continuous professional career development strategy can contribute to speedy growth and development of our economy.


He said development strategy are becoming more dynamic and transisting from material economy to invest into human development that can provide high tech services for economic growth.
He empathised on the need for young officers in the ministry to be equipped with digital skills as a means of impacting on the economy through the use of technology.
The minister commended the commodities and export department for the initiative noting that, “there is a need to build human capital to fill in knowledge gap for a productive workforce.”


Also, the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, AMB. Mariam Katagum, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, said the programme was designed to grow young professionals in the ministry with skills as a means of improving their productivity.


She stated further that YPP was a platform for young people to become innovative and productive, thereby contributing significantly to the growth of the economy.
