FG urged to force ex-Heads of State to return looted funds

A former National Chairman of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Alhaji Abdulkarim Daiyyabu, has called on the federal government to probe the activities of former Heads of State, both civilian and military, with the aim of recovering funds found to be looted.
Speaking at a public rally organised by the North-west Zonal headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano yesterday, Daiyyabu wondered why those who had looted the treasury with impunity should be allowed to go scot free.
He said: “Instituti ng the probe has become absolutely necessary for the whopping sums looted to be returned.
Corruption in high places must be stopped.
We have no reason to allow others to milk the treasury of the state dry.
Those who had looted the treasury had done a great disservice for the country.
“I want the President to start investigating all former Heads of State, including civilian and military.
And all those who had connived to legitimise looting not minding the consequences it had entailed.
We need to effect a clear paradigm shift in the way we behave and act.
One is even ashamed to be called a Nigerian, because of the negative niche we have carved as one of the most corrupt nations on earth.
“Once such leaders are found to be culpable, they should be shown the way out, the law of Kama will take a severe toll on them.
Nobody should be a sacred cow as far as the law is concerned.”
