FIBA Africa Ch’ship: Gombe Bulls suffer third defeat

It was a sad story for Nigeria’s Gombe Bulls at the ongoing 2017 FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Men in Tunisia on Wednesday as they suffered a third consecutive defeat in the club championship.
The Nigerian team was beaten 103-75 points by Groupement Sportif Des Petroliers of Algeria to confirm their poor position in the tournament.
Groupement Sportif Des Petroliers dominated the first two quarters with 29-16 points and 27-18 points to end the first half with a 56-34 points advantage.
Gombe Bulls came out stronger in the third quarter to win with 27-23 points but could not maintain the tempo in the last quarter as Groupement Sportif Des Petroliers won the period with 24-14 points to end the game with 103-75 points.
With the result, it is clear that Gombe Bulls are out of the tournament but they have to play the remaining two games to avoid FIBA sanction.
Gombe have three points so far after their three defeats while Kano Pillars have two points after two defeats.
