FIFA council position: NNL congratulates Pinnick

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has congratulated Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigeria Football Federation on his achievement, after being elected into the prestigious arm of World Football ruling body, the FIFA Executive Committee.

Amaju floored his closest contestant Walter Nyamilandu of Malawi 43-8 to emerge as FIFA Council member.

Chairman of the League, who is also the chairman Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Obinna Ogba, described Amaju’s victory as phenomenal.

“It’s curtain call, and the applause is for him. What he has been able to achieve is phenomenal. The standing ovation represents only a fraction of the recognition he deserves. We couldn’t have been more impressed. Well done Amaju Pinnick!”

Senator Ogba who equally is an executive member of the NNL said Amaju’s success is Nigeria’s gain.

He further said, “Our unalloyed support to him will not cease, I enjoin all Nigerians to equally do same,to see that he thrives the more.

“It is an added advantage for Nigeria in the beautiful game, globally.I congratulate him for his bold and dogged step and pray God to guide and protect him for us.”

Amaju ‘s triumph at the FIFA Council polls makes him the third in the league of Nigerians to occupy the plum seat. First was the man nicknamed the father of modern football in Nigeria, late Etubom Orok Oyo, in 1980 and then Dr.Amos Adamu in 2006.
