FIFA grants Nigeria 2-day reprieve

  Falconets won’t be replaced

The world football governing body, FIFA, has granted another two-day for extension, thereby giving a sign of hope that the Falconets of Nigeria will maintain their place in Group C of Canada 2014, pending the resolution of the NFF crisis
This second extension is coming on the heels of the Federal Government’s delegation sent to Zurich  following the FIFA’s July 15 deadline it handed to Nigeria to reinstate Aminu Maigari as the president of the NFF.
Reports yesterday had it that South Africa applied as a replacement for the nation’s second female national team, the Falconets, but an official of the NFF has quashed such claims, stating that they would not be replaced on July 15 as the deadline is now July 17, given FIFA’s two days of grace.
The official said: “FIFA has given us a two-day extension. We (Falconets will not be replaced.’’
The Jos High Court did not sit on July 11, owing to the strike action embarked upon by judiciary staff across the country.
The complainant, Rumson Victor Baribote, a former Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has assured the NFF that he would withdraw the case against it if he is pardoned from the 15-year ban and reinstated as the second vice president of the NFF.
The Canada U-20 Women World Cup kicks off on August 5, while Nigeria play their first Group C game against Mexico on August 6
