World football governing body, FIFA is wallowing in condemnations instead of congratulatory messages as it clocks 115 this Tuesday. FIFA was founded in Paris on May 21, 1904.
According to UK’s The Telegraph, FIFA is being heavily criticised for the disorganised manner in which tickets for the Women’s World Cup in France have been allocated.
Fans who have already purchased tickets for matches during the tournament were informed that a message indicating “not all seats would be located next to each other” was shown during the buying process.
Although allocating seating might seem like basic stadium event organisation, officials have found themselves the subject of angry messages from supporters unable to find out whether their tickets are side by side.
A tweet posted at 9:58am on Tuesday said:
“Dear fans. We have noted some of your comments, re: your tickets. When you placed your order, a message indicating not all seats would be located next to each other did appear, before confirmation of your purchase. Unfortunately we will not be able to modify your order.
“However, an exception could be made for parents whose seats are not next to the seats of their underage children (18 years old and younger). For more info, do not hesitate to contact the ticketing customer service team on +33 (0) 9 70 25 55 55 or by email at: [email protected].”
The statement has provoked outrage and was panned on Twitter, with concerns raised over the basic organisation of the World Cup as a whole.
Some Twitter users complained at having up to five tickets for their family allocated in different positions over the stadium for their particular match.
Games take place over nine cities – Paris, Valenciennes, Le Havre, Grenoble, Reims, Montpellier, Nice and Lyon – with the final in Lyon. The first game kicks off on June 7.
