An emotional 19-year-old senior secondary school girl, Stella Mbayin Ndoma, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, and the Cross River state Police Commissioner, Aminu Alhassan, to find those who killed her father, Chief Mbayin Ndoma, last week.
Blueprint gathered that late Chief Ndoma, alias Otisco, was killed by hoodlums in his hometown, Orimekpang Junction, in Boki local government area of the state on August 3, 2022.
It was gathered further that he had used his position as certificates chief to send pronounced cultists in the area, mostly youths, on exile from the community.
In a chat with reporters, Stella appealed to the Police authorities not to sweep the gruesome murder of her father under the carpet.
“I am shocked to hear that my late father, who was a traditional ruler in my community, Orimekpang in Boki, could be shot to death by hoodlums and not even a fly has been arrested in connection with his death,” she said.
She said her father got a phone call from an unknown caller who asked him to leave his home and that the caller claimed some men were coming to take away his life.
Stella said her father promptly fled his home, stayed the night somewhere, but was shot to death in the morning as he made efforts to return to his home.
The Public Relations Officer of the state Police command, SP Irene Ugbo, confirmed the incident, but added that the Police had begun preliminary investigation into the killing.
“The police are already liaising with the leaders of the community to find a way forward on how to apprehend the killers of the traditional ruler,” Ugbo said.
