Finidi George begs NFF for U-17 coaching job

Former Super Eagles winger Finidi George has said he really want to coach the country’s U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets now and the Super Eagles job in near future.
The 49-year-old attacker who won the UEFA Champions League title with Durch League side Ajax Amsterdam revealed that he has already submitted an application to the Nigeria Football Federation NFF.

However, Finidi insisted he is not in a hurry for the top job after admitting that he would like to start with the age-grade teams for now adding that he has loads of knowledge to impact in them.
He has however urged the NFF chieftains to look into his application to handle one of the cadet teams.

“I have applied to be the coach of Nigeria team but I don’t want the Super Eagles job now,” he said in an interview. “I want one of the age-grade teams, perhaps the U-17.
I believe I have a lot of ideas and knowledge to share with the younger generation. He concluded.
The NFF has said the names of the selected coaches for the various national age grade teams will be announced after the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Finidi George made over 60 appearances for the national team with six goals credited to his name – including his goal at the 1994 World Cup against Bulgaria.

He was part of the squad that won Nigeria’s second Africa Cup of Nations title in Tunisia and retired from national team assignment just before the 2002 edition of the global competition.
