Fintiri distributes instructional materials to 1,968 Adamawa schools

In furtherance of his administration’s commitment to revamping the education sector in line with his free education policy, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has flagged off the distribution of instructional materials to 1,968 schools in the state.

Distributing the materials at the weekend in Yola, Governor Fintiri tasked parents and guardians in the state to see the education of their children as a necessary obligation which should not be left to government and teachers alone, hence the need for them to co-orporate with government to ensure a better future for children.

He further stated that his administration’s decision to embark on the initiative was aimed at equipping schools in the state is in line with his administration’s commitment to revamp the education sector of the state and further consolidate on the numerous achievements so far recorded by his administration in the education sector.

He said his administration has embarked on massive renovations, rehabilitations and construction of schools across the state by constructing three blocks of classrooms and offices in over 300 schools as well as rehabilitation of classrooms and offices in 400 schools and provisions of 87 VIP toilets in addition to 20,000 set of desks, chairs, computers and internet facilities in nine schools in the first phase.

The governor further restated his administration’s commitment to make education sector in the state more attractive than the private initiative adding that investment in education is investment in the future.  He commended UNICEF and other donor agencies for their effort towards closing infrastructural gap in the education sector of the state.

In their separate remarks, Adamawa state commissioner for Education and Human Capital development, Hon. Wilbina Jackson and the executive secretary Adamawa state Universally Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), Salihu Ateeku Ibrahim called for proper use of the material and urged the people to support the administration in its effort to move the state forward.
