Fire kills mother, 2 children in Bauchi village

A woman and two of her children have been burnt to death as a result of an inferno that occurred at Riban Garmu village, Dewu ward in Kirfi local government of Bauchi state Wednesday night.

A member representing Kirfi local government in the Bauchi state house of assembly Honourable Abdulkadir Umar Dewu disclosed this to newsmen after he paid a sympathy visit to the family of the victims.

The lawmaker said it was pathetic to see a mother and her two biological children consumed by fire.

Dewu urged the families of the victims to take the incident as an act of God and prayed that such calamity would not recur in future.

He presented a donation of N250,000 to the victims’ families donated by the state governor Bala Mohammed.

“The loss suffered by the families and the community is painful and irreparable loss because no amount of money can pay the price of a mother and her two children that were burnt in the inferno”. He said.

He also extended governor Bala Mohammed’s condolences to the families of the deceased advising the communityagainst using fire indiscriminately to avoid disaster.

An eyewitness account said the fire was as a result of electrical fault adding that it happened in the night when people were sleeping and the fire burnt the four bedroom house completely.

He regretted that when the fire started, there was effort by neighbours to burgle the door of the room to rescue the woman and her children but it was abortive as the fire escalated thereby killing them.
