Fire razes properties in Lagos police barracks

An early morning fire outbreak razed down six shops at the Ogudu Police Barracks in Lagos before men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and its collaborators extinguished the pre-dawn inferno, LASEMA has disclosed.

The cause of the fire, which is yet to be ascertained, according to the agency’s spokesman, Nosa Okunbor, reportedly started in the wee hours this morning from one of the shops.

Though six from the 17 shops were razed in the incident, 11 were salvaged and the fire totally extinguished by combined efforts of the agency’s response team and the Lagos Fire Service, Okunbor told our correspondent.

He added that, “Activities conducted in the razed shops by the fire outbreak at dawn involved two fashion design services, a pawn shop, event planning wares shop, a sport betting outlet and a barber’s shop.

“On arrival at the incident scene, the team discovered that the fire outbreak started from among the several lines of the shops.

“There are seventeen (17) shops in total, six (6) shops were affected and damaged by the inferno while eleven (11) were salvaged.

“The cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained. No loss of lives nor injuries recorded.

“The fire outbreak has been totally put out by combined efforts of the agency’s response team and the Lagos State Fire Service.
