Firm states position on alleged tax evasion

A Kaduna based chattered accountant’s firm, Sulaimon & Co yesterday said the firm is not among tax evaders as claimed by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (firs

).

The firm said it has not in any way evaded tax and should not have been listed by the FIRS, which it said has caused the company embarrassment.

The firm was reacting to a story earlier published in which FIRS was quoted listing Sulaimon & Co. among evaders in Kaduna state.

In a statement made available to Blueprint in Kaduna, which was signed by its spokesperson, L.A. Olapade, it said:
“We wish to categorically state that we are neither indebted to the Federal Inland Revenue Services, nor affected by the action. Needless to state that the publication is costing our firm a lot in reputation and exposing us to a public odium. We, therefore, demand an immediate retraction of the story.”
