Flood kills 4, destroys over 1000 houses in Jigawa

The Vice Chairman of Jahun local government area of Jigawa state, Alhaji Ado Mai Angwa has said no fewer than four people were killed, 500 houses destroyed while many villages were submerged.

Speaking on the negative impact of the flood in his LGA, the Vice chairman said it is regrettably that deaths were recorded in Jahun and Aujara towns respectively.

He said areas badly affected are Ardo-sabuwa, Dankunama, Darai, Aujara, Duro, Gunka, Male, Taraya, Kuka Kwace and Maiyadiya among others.

Similarly, the flood also destroyed many areas of Buji, the headquarters of Buji local government area where hundreds of houses were submerged or washed away.

While about 500 houses and properties worth N500 million were also washed away in Kadale village of Gwaram local government area by the flood.

Our correspondent who visited Maruta town in Gwaram LGA saw how houses were over flooded by water, and many residents who are forced out of their homes and are presently taking refuge with their relations.
