Flood: Yobe gov pays sympathy, assessment visit to communities

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has visited three communities ravaged by flood in Tarmuwa local government council to sympathise and assess the levels of damage caused by the flood.

Buni was represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, on Friday to Jumbam, Koriel and Garga villages where he directed State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and Ministry of Works to provide their immediate needs.

Buni reaffirmed government’s commitment to provide shelter, and conducive environment for the affected victims, calling on them to
take the incident as an act of God.

Briefing the deputy governor earlier, the caretaker committee chairman, Tarmuwa local government council, Hon. Abubakar Gidado, explained that the last flood experienced in the area was around 1956.

He, further said over 37 houses and farm lands were destroyed and submerged following the recent flood that affected the communities.

The royal father and emir of Jajere, Alhaji Mai Hamza Ibn Buba Mashio, said the heavy rainfall had affected many homes and farm lands, calling on the government to assist the victims.
