Fly Mid Africa launches Lagos-BanjulDakar-Freetown-Accra operation

Th e Gambia’s new national carrier, Fly Mid Africa, has announced the commencement of fl ights from Banjul with onward connections to Dakar Freetown, Accra and Lagos. Th e airline also announced the appointment of Nigerian-based leisure and travel agent, Peacock Aviation Services, as its general sales agent in Nigeria. Th e managing director of the airline, Mr. Bakary Nyassi said in a joint statement with Peacock Aviation that Fly Mid Africa would operate four weekly fl ights to Lagos. He said the airline would focus on alleviating the challenges business and leisure travelers from Nigeria and other nationals face in fi nding fl ight connections across key cities in Africa, especially the West and Central Africa.

“Th e time has come for business and leisure travelers across Africa to enjoy state-of-the-art and topnotch exclusive fl ight services in the continent,” he said. He said fl ights to and fro Lagos and onward connections will be operated with two Boeing 737-Classic aircraft; B737-300 (8 Business Class and 124 Economy Class seats) and B737-400 (16 Business Class and 116 Economy Class seats). In addition to operating air services in the target routes, Nyassi said Fly Mid Africa “is committed to providing safe, reliable and effi cient air transport services to spur economic development and foster regional integration through the promotion of trade and regional tourism.

“Fly Mid Africa is the airline of West Africa. We are proud of the diversity of our workforce, coming from eight African countries: Th e Gambia, Guinea Conakry, Ghana, Nigeria, Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Sudan. And this is why we are Fly Mid Africa. “Flight connections within Africa should not be a nightmare. Business and leisure passengers should fl y within the continent in style,” he added. In his remarks, the executive chairman, Peacock Group of Companies, Mr. Aare Segun Phillips, expressed gratitude to the management of the airline for making Peacock their preferred general sales agent in Nigeria.

He said Fly Mid Air’s vision was in consonance with that of Peacock Aviation, which is to off er upscale travel experience to passengers in a friendly manner. He also announced that Peacock Holiday had concluded arrangements to launch tour packages to destinations on the continent especially within the subregion by taking advantage of the airline’s full network services within the Central and West Africa regions. He said it would also remove the bottleneck and stress aff ecting interconnectivity within the sub-region.
