Football can unite Nigerians –Poko

The founder of Abuja Lawyers League (ALL), Barrister Olujimi Olujide Poko has disclosed that football can be used as tool to foster peace and unity among Nigerians, hence the government needs to invest more in the game.

Poko said this during an interview with journalists after the grand finale of the football match organised among lawyers in Wuse, Abuja by ALL.

G.L.A Fc clinch the trophy by beating Yusuf Ali Fc 3-0 in the finals of the highly contested encounter.
In the third place match, Chris Uche Fc played Philemon Fc and the match ended 2-2,at regulation time. In the resultant penalty shoot out Philemon triumphed to clinch the third place.

Speaking with journalists after the match, Poko said “If you look at the way football is structured and the way it works, you will see that it is a unifying game. Even during the EndSARS protest, you will see that some footballers show solidarity after scoring. This is a very good platform. We have over 200 lawyers here. Whatever message we have to pass about good governance, accountability or end to police brutality; this is a very good platform.”

Abuja Lawyers League was conceived four years ago to foster unity, peace as well create leisure among lawyers and youths entirely.
