Football dev’t: IGP backs Crime Busters to excel, eyes NPFL ticket for Police team

The acting Inspector General Nigeria Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu has assured of his readiness to give football development required attention in a bid to encourage its Officers to make the country proud.


IGP Adamu stated this in his office when he received the 2018 Challenge Cup won by Crime Busters football club of Enugu said  the exploits of the officers and Men of the Force in sporting activities especially football had no doubt given the Force a respectable image over the years.


The Police IG who was visibly excited with the feat achieved by Crime Busters FC, demanded for immediate needs of the club to make it more formidable.


His words: “I’m very happy for the achievement by the club. Defeating Rangers that even beat clubs outside Nigeria means shows your team prepared well.


“One of our focus for us in the Nigeria Police is to return to the glory days when Police Athletes were respected because they made Nigeria proud within and outside the country.


“Right now, a Commissioner is heading Police Sports unit. Those in charge of Crime Busters football club should assemble their demands and send them to me so that we will ensure support for the team to do better.”


Crime Busters are currently in the Nigeria Nationwide League division one.
Presenting the trophy to the IGP, coach of the team and former international, Edmund Ndukamma, praised the sound technical quality of his players and technical crew and urged the club’s management to continue with its undiluted support.


Team Manager of the club and Supritendent of Police, Ebere Amarizu, said with the IGP’s pronouncement, every member of the team would be committed to winning more laurels this year and beyond.


Sponsor of the club, Geroge Agu, said on the occasion, that he was determined to contribute more toward the growth of the nation’s football.
Crime Busters FC deated Rangers International 2 – 1 to win the 2018 Enugu state challenge cup, breaking a 38 year old record held by Rangers.
