A group of Christian leaders under the aegis of United Christian Clerics for National Peace (UCCNP) has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to forgive their co-Christian leaders across the country who were against his re-election, even as the lauded the courage of the president-elect.
The group before the election declared support for the re-election of President Buhari, accusing their colleagues of turning their pulpits to campaign against the president.
But while addressing a news conference Friday in Abuja, National President of the group, Bishop John Abu Richard, expressed disappointment that some other Christian leaders who “used their pulpits to send out mischievious speeches against President Muhammadu Buhari, who has done so much and needs our supports to use the next four years to take Nigeria to her promised land.
“Your Excellency, you were the first Democrat to unseat an incumbent President, you are also the first again to face the gang up of Nigerian Elites and money bags in election contest yet you defeated them and emerged winner in the most free and fair election in Nigeria.
“We thank all Nigerians that against all odds came out to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari, especially the Nigerians Christians who were being fed with hate speeches and dreadful allegations against voting President Muhammadu Buhari to the extent that many Christians were threatened that voting President Muhammadu Buhari was their direct tickets to Hell Fire the Pastors. And that President Muhammadu Buhari will perfect and execute his agenda to finally lslamize Nigeria.
“We came out here two weeks ago in a Press conference to debunk all their evil claims and threats and also endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari and encouraged all Christians to come out en-mass to vote for him.
“We also use this golden opportunity to appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to use his magnanimous heart as the father of the Nation to forgive all our colleagues who ate the forbidden fruit and took sides with other political parties to use their sacred altars to prophesy in God’s name, however, it has been made clear by your victory that it was the God of money and to gain more fame that spoke through them, not the real God. God spoke through Nigerians on February 23rd 2019 that President Muhammadu Buhari is His chosen one to lead Nigeria to her promised land.”
According to the Christian leaders, “God has spoken and answered our prayers and we shall be seen as great fools if we are not grateful to set apart a day for a national thanksgiving. This is due to the fact that God has helped our country to avert crisis during the just conciuded generai Eiection which has been better than that of 2015 and the best in Nigeria history.”
