Former devt center coordinator raises alarm over threat to life in Ebonyi

Mr. John Elom, a former Coordinator of Ukaba Development Center in Onicha local government area of Ebonyi state has raised  alarm over an alleged threat to his life.

Elom who is a native of Ishinkwo,Ukawu community in Onicha local government said  a group of persons whom he described as  self-styled power brokers from neighbouring Oshiri are after his life.

He made this disclosure on Wednesday while addressing journalists in Abakaliki .

The former coordinator equally alleged that thugs loyal to the said power brokers have been after him ,adding that they fatally attacked his brother, Chief Chidi John Elom along with his two persons Ubanna Epoto and James Odah.

Elom also alleged that he has survived two assassination attempts within three months during which his 505 2.0 evolution Peugeot car was destroyed beyond repairs.

Mr Elom said he has petitioned security agents in the state and Governor Dave Umahi over his brother’s attack and that of two other victims which almost left him dead.

“I wish to condemn unequivocally the grand efforts by this group of power peddlers to run my community like a colony and victimize all who challenge their monopoly. I pray that God will liberate my people from the clutches of these modern day colonial masters.

“I have written to the Executive Governor of the state concerning these issues and hope for an exhaustive and comprehensive investigation to forestall a breakdown of law and order in our community”, he said.
