Hajiya Maryam (Baba Mairo) Salihu Nakande, mother of the former minister of state information and communications Dasuki Nakande, has died at the age of 98.
Hon. Nakande, who confirmed the death said their mother died early hours of Monday, at their family residence in Jos, after protracted illness.
Hajiya Maryam, is survived with by 4 children, one male, Hon. Dasuki Salihu Nakande, three females, namely; Hajiya Khadija, Hajiya Hauwa’u (Mai Jiddah), and Hajiya Zainab (Uwani), respectively.
She also survived by many grand and great grandchildren.
The chief imam of Jos, Sheikh Lawal Adam, led her funeral prayer at 8:30 am, thereafter, she was buried at the Jos Zaria road burial ground, at the hours of 9:15 am in accordance with the Islamic rites.
Our correspondent who was at the family residence, reported that family members, friends, associates and have been trouping and expressing their condolences.
