Former NPN Publicist raises alarm over threat to life by Osun monarch

A former Publicity Secretary of the defunct National Party of Nigeria, Chief Abiola Ogundokun, has raised the alarm over alleged threat to his life by the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi.
He raised the allegation in the state High court when the suit he instituted against the monarch came up on Monday.
Chief Ogundokun who called the attention of the judge to the online video threat by the monarch, said Oluwo has made several attempts to kill him.
When the case came up, Counsel to the plaintiff, Mr. Soji Oyetayo, urged the court to hear his motion since the respondent has refused to reply after he has served him the motion of notice.
But, counsels to the defendant, Chief Laide Yekeen and Abimbola Ige said, they had filed a memorandum of appearance for the defendant in June when they learnt that there was move to settle the matter.
The counsels said they just received another motion thus knowing that the settlement was not successful.
The counsels however urged the court to grant them adjournment in the interest of justice, promising that they would respond appropriately.
Objecting to the adjournment, Oyetayo told the court that the plaintiff was not aware of any move to settle and the defendant himself has never approached his client for any settlement.
“I urge my Lord to allow us to move our application. Settlement without the party is not genuine,” Oyetayo pleaded.
Justice Adedoja Ayoola, however directed the respondent to pay the necessary fine and adjourned the matter to November 28, 2017 for hearing.
Meanwhile, Chief Ogundokun has written the police over allege threat to his life by the monarch.
A copy of petition submitted to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone XI Command headquarter, Osogbo, on Monday November 6, 2017 a copy of which was made available to our correspondent, alleged that the monarch has been threatening him.
“Oluwo has become so emboldened to the level of intensifying his threats and acts of violence on my life. Because of his actions and threats, I have been living in continuous anxiety and fear of assassination attempt on my life and my family.
“My freedom to freely move about and associate or attend gatherings or carry out my personal assignments have been consequently curtailed as I have noticed unknown persons monitoring, following and trailing my movement coupled with telephone calls from unknown numbers, issuing threats and making enquiries about my movement.
“He has pronounced me enemy demanding for my execution in many of his recorded public outbursts,” the petition stated.
