Former SSG joins Osun guber race

The former Secretary to the Government of Osun State, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade Akinbade, yesterday declared his intention to contest the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for September 22.
In his letter of intent to the PDP secretariat, along Ikirun road, Osogbo, Akinbade, who was accompanied to the venue by hundreds of his supporters, said he has the credentials to lead the state to the Promised Land. According to him, although everybody that have signified intention to run in the party are all qualified, but he said his experience of over 20 years in government has placed him above others to handle the responsibility. Akinbade, who also promised to roll out a blueprint that would turn around the state, said he has “the will and wherewithal” to prosecution and win the election. He regretted that the people of the state have suffered in the hands of Governor Rauf Aregbesola, especially civil servants and pensioners, who for months went without salaries and even when paid were placed on half salaries.
He charged the executives of the party to ensure emergence of a candidate that will be acceptable to the populace, saying “people of the state are waiting for us and we cannot afford to disappoint them. “I want to appeal to us to let our campaign be issuebased and we should avoid character assassination.
I want to also appeal to the party to embark on orientation of the people on the need to collect their Permanent Voters Card. “As I speak to you, according to INEC, over 400,000 cards have not been collected and this gives me a great concern,” he stated
