Foundation begins annual feeding of 5,000 vulnerable, malnourished Nigerians

In a bid to reduce hunger and improve nutrition among less privileged children and women in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, a non-governmental organisation, Aniedi Etim Foundation has commenced the feeding of vulnerable people across the country.

The foundation said it would be targeting 5,000 malnourished and vulnerable members of the society annually.

The founder and chief executive of Aniedi Etim Foundation, Miss Aniedi Etim, stated this while flagging off the project tagged ‘the Streets Feeding Programme’ in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital, weekend.

She said the outreach to street children is a practical demonstration of the foundation’s mission to enhance the welfare of underprivileged children through education, health, and nutrition.

Etim emphasised that the gesture has no political undertone or affiliation, adding that it will cut across religion, and ethnicity among others.

“This philanthropic act is to ensure that abandoned children roaming the streets with no shelter have a sense of belonging as hunger is a global problem.

“Food is life, food makes children healthy and happy. We want our mission of kindness to inspire everyone to look around and remember the abandoned children on the streets…for the future depends entirely on what each of us does for the child today,” she added.

Blueprint correspondent reports that members of the foundation traverse the streets of Uyo distributing food to the less privileged children and women, many of whom could not afford three square meal a day.
