Foundation doles out farm inputs to 270 farmers in Osun

In its bid to improve production of food and cash crops, Wale Bolorunduro Foundation, has distributed farm inputs to 270 farmers in Osu and Ifewara in Atakumosa Local Government Area of Osun state.
The Chairman of the foundation, Dr. Adewale Bolorunduro, said he was supporting farmers in their plights to increase production of food and cash crops. Bolorunduro, who is the immediate past Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning in the state, said the gesture would cover selected farmers in all the 10 Local Governments of Osun East Senatorial District.
He said farm inputs likes herbicides, pesticides (taritari), cocoapod treatment chemical (korikori), were distributed to the farmers because of his concern about cash crops. He said the gesture was also part of effort to complement the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government’s diversifi cation agenda. He advised cocoa farmers to ensure proper application of the insecticides, maintaining that future of Nigeria is good with the steps being taken by the federal government.
Assuring farmers of distribution of more farm instrument from his foundation, Bolorunduro said he is talking with an agency to get more cocoa and palm kernel seedlings. “My aim is the cash crop and I’m very emotional about it. Each farmers should be able to use the chemical for two tons of cocoa. 270 farmers have been given in two local government out of ten local government in Osun East Senatorial District. We may end up at 1,500 farmers in the ten local governments. “Ondo is making a lot of money in cocoa.
This is a clarion call to the government of Osun state. He recalled that the foundation has embarked on philanthropic gesture since 2006, promising that he would not relent in supporting farmers, especially to improve cash crop. He maintained that rubber plantation can employ a lot of people, saying “cash crop makes economic sense to me than any other things.
