Foundation gives scholarship, empowerment to students, women

 The Annual Lateefah Moyosore Durosinmi Foundation (LMDF) has concluded plan to give 42 new scholarship awards, six further scholarship supports to students as well as grants to 28 women in small scale business on Saturday, November 7 in Ile Ife .

The Chairperson of the Foundation, Professor Fatimah Abdulkareem said this in a statement announcing the seventh edition of the award.

She said all the beneficiaries are selected from the six South-west zone states and Ife Central local government in Osun state. 

 Professor Abdulkareem said with the 2020 awards, the foundation would have given out 159 scholarships to students and grants to 90 women in the zone. 

 She said the foundation has also continued to give further support to previous beneficiaries for sustainability. 

Professor Abdulkareem said that the event will hold at the campus of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife on Saturday from 11am with Alhaji Moshood Giwa, Managing Director, GMT Hotels & Events Centre, Osogbo, as Chairman, while Dr (Mrs) Taiwo Adeagbo, Ag. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, will speak on”Education and Economic Challenges under a Pandemic period, The Way Out”.

 Other dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Barr. Olubukola Olaboopo,   Hon. Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs, State of Osun,  Alhaja Maryam Ogunlade, Commissioner for Women’s Affairs,  Ekiti state,  Professor Abubakre Sanusi, Professor of Medicine, OAU Ile Ife, Mr. Jamiu Olawunmi, Special Adviser on Education, State of Osun, amongst several other dignitaries.
