Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim Foundation (MAI Foundation), has conducted a free eye test, treatment and provision of free eye glasses for 1000 aged people who cannot afford it.
The Founder, Alhaji Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim during the exercise decried the high rate of partial blindness among the aged people in Kwara State, saying these are avoidable problem.
Ajia speaking at the opening of the two day health outreach in Ilorin West and Ilorin South local government area of Kwara State organized by Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim Foundation
“The health outreach is specifically on free eye test, treatment and provision of free eye glasses for those who might need it but can not afford it. The programme will be organized randomly in the 16 local government areas of Kwara,” he said.
Ajia said he is bothered to see fathers and mothers going blind in their 50s and 60s because of glaucoma, cataract and dust that are avoidable and can be treated with drugs if detected early enough. “This propel our foundation to take this upon ourselves to ensure that we stamp out blindness among our people.
“After necessary test, we will take care of the immediate treatment of patients that can be handled by the doctors on ground here and refer others that might need references to the appropriate hospital and the foundation shall take care of the bills. Ishall Allah, we shall do more,” he said.
MAI Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded as part of Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim efforts to lend a helping hand to the people of his immediate community, State and the nation at large with seven areas of focus which includes youth capacity, women empowerment, health support, education support, agricultural support, poverty alleviation and community development.
