Foundation trains over 100 Kajuru youths on vocational skills

True Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that focuses on youth and women mentorship and empowerment has trained over 100 youths on different vocations in Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna state.

Its founder, Brenda Ataga, said the training programme which was organised in partnership with NEMA and support from Adara Development Initiative, was aimed at tackling youth restivesness in the local government, as well as expose the untapped talents of the youths.

She regretted that culture has stalled a lot of dreams of young people and women in the country, stressing that Nigeria youths are very innovative and can thrive if given the right opportunities.

“We have been misled by culture that we want to do things so fast without thinking of the rudiments to greatness.

“I think in Nigeria we all need to think organically by growing from the bottom, develop yourself and put it to work. If every youth, start something regardless of how little will go places,” she stressed.

“This is the 9th edition of training programme we have organised in different places. We liaise with our partner NEMA and they said we need to go to Kajuru and I’m really glad that we did because they have the most forward thinking local government chairman as well as the reception and hospitality by the people has been amazing.

“For us replication, consistency and sustainability is very important especially in the spate of high level unemployment, insecurity. We feel that the restiveness of youths can be curtailed by engaging them legally and meaningfully with low impact skill that has high economic impact,” she added.

Chairman of the LGA Hon. Cafra Caino, lauded the organisation’s choice of Kajuru, saying this will further foster growth, peace and unity in the region.

Caino charged leaders at all levels to ensure the adequate inclusion of youths in governance, stressing that this will encourage innovative ideas and thinking outside the box to develop their own entities.

“I call on leaders to bring in more youths to governance because they have a lot to deliver especially with the global trend now circulating around the youths they will solve problem because they are part of it,” he said.

He maintained that the peace and security enjoyed by indigenes in the local government is because youths were involved in the peace processes, adding that they also ensure that they are meaningfully engaged.

“We are priviledged to be the pioneer beneficiary of this True Foundation programme in Kaduna state. Bringing this to the crannies especially at a period we have been thinking of how to lift our youths from the predicament of unemployment and other social vices is good time and very handy too.

“The training was rigorous and very impactful. I have advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the skills learnt through this training and become successful,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Zugwai Emmanuella Magaji who learnt how to bake lauded the programme, saying she will start up her own business with the knowledge she acquired.
