Fraud: Deputy Senate president calls for transparency in PPF

Chief of Staff to the Deputy President of the Senate, Dr Otive Igbuzor has called for  transparency and values that this government represents such as due process, diligence and integrity at the Police Pension Fund (PPF).

Dr Igbuzor stated this while speaking on the scandal of the N23 billion Police Pension Fund of 2013 and also the N7.74 billion Police Equipment Fund fraud of 2007.

He also recalled that the N5.7 billion alleged fraud at the National Economic Reconstruction Fund (NERFUND) also in 2013 uncovered by the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Joint Special Examination. 

He said, just last year, there was the alleged N40 billion Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Funds (NSITF) fraud. 

Also, the Executive Director of CLEEN Foundation, Dr Benson Olugbuo said Nigeria Police Force can overcome these factors which have deprived it from attaining the desired focus, efficiency and effectiveness given a favourable operational environment.
