FRCN probe panel grills Akingbola, Wigwe, others

The Group Managing Director Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, the former group managing director of defunct Intercontinental Bank, Erastus Akingbola and the former group managing director of Access Bank Plc, Mr Aigboje Aig-Imokhuede yesterday appeared before the  panel set by Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) to investigate activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) financial year and other related issues including the sale of intercontinental Bank.

Other people that were grilled by  the probe panel were Alhaji Ahmed Barmali and  Mr. Igho Dafinone.  former chief executive officer of the Nigerian Security, Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC), Mr. Ehi’ E Okoyomon was the only person Blueprint learnt was absent during the panel hearing.

The panel hearing which took place in Lagos at FRCN head office was conducted under a very tight  security and it lasted less than two hours.
However, some of the aggrieved staff of the defunct Intercontinental Bank  came in mass to give their support to Akingbola. Most of the staff wore  Intercontinental Bank T-shirts to show their solidarity to the former managing director of the bank.

The outcome of the committee discussion with the former bank executives was not immediately. The official of the FRCN said that they would issue a statement on the outcome at the end of the investigation.
