FRCN workers protest ‘colonial equipment’ in Kaduna

 

 

Workers of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in Kaduna protested over what was described as obsolete equipment and welfare issues at the premises of the zonal office of the corporation.

Addressing members, the chairmen of RATWAWU, SSA and NUJ of FRCN chapel expressed displeasure that the zonal station still worked with the equipment procured under colonial rule, saying they were outdated and no longer useful in getting the best in the digital era of broadcasting.

NUJ chapel chairman, Salisu Buhari, said the nationwide protest was part of the arrangement made in their in-house union’s summit in Ilorin, Kwara state. He also advocated for good welfare packages and allowances for the teeming staff.

Responding, Zonal Director, Kaduna Zonal station, Buhari Auwalu, commended the staff for taking the protest very peaceful and promised to deliver their demands to the appropriate authorities.

The two-hour protest started and ended in the premises of the radio station at the Dahiru Modibo House, Independence Way, Kaduna.
