From Real Madrid, Keylos Navas completes 4-year PSG signing

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid worked in tandem on transfer deadline day as the two clubs exchanged goalkeepers.

Keylor Navas arrived in Paris to sign a four-year deal with the Ligue 1 champions while Frenchman Alphonse Areola headed in the other direction on a one-year loan.

Navas has been a regular at Real Madrid since joining the club in 2014. But the 32-year-old insists he is ‘really excited’ about a new challenge in France

‘I’m really excited to sign for Paris Saint-Germain,’ Navas told the club’s website.

‘After my experience in Spain, I’m coming to France with high hopes. Paris Saint-Germain is a very prestigious club in Latin America and I am keen to be part of the adventure that started several years ago.

‘I will do everything I can to help PSG win new titles, bringing all my experience and professionalism.

‘And I will also try to win the hearts of the Parisian fans, famous throughout Europe for their passion.’

Areola’s loan deal with Madrid does not include an option to buy and he will compete with Belgian Thibaut Courtois for the No 1 jersey at the Bernabeu.

It marks a return to La Liga for Areola having had previous experience at Villarreal in the 2015-16 season. He played 37 times for the club and conceded 32 goals.
