FRSC drags lawyer to court for traffic offence

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dragged a lawyer, Olalere Olaobaju, to the Federal High Court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun state capital, for road traffic offence. 


The defendant was alleged to have drove with an invalid number plate and thereby committed a punishable offence. 


The FRSC alleged that the defendant committed the purported crime on October 19, 2019 at at 4:35pm at Akinlalu junction along Ife-Ibadan road. 


The prosecutor, Mr Stephen Ichukwu, alleged that the defendant drove his Toyota Camry Salon car with registration number AJ211FEE with an invalid number plate. 


The alleged offence, according to the charge sheet, contravened the provision of Regulation 39 of the National Road Traffic Regulation 2012.


He pleaded not guilty to the allegation preferred against him by the FRSC. 


Some lawyers in the court, including the former  Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association in Ile-Ife , urged the court to grant the defendant bail on self-recognition. The lawyers said that the defendant is a respected members of the bar in Ile-Ife. 


Justice Peter Lifu thereby ordered the defendant to enter into recognition in a sum of one million naira and adjourned the case to November 13 for hearing.
