FRSC mobile court sentences 3 to 2 months in prison

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) mobile court sitting in Asaba, Delta state, has sentenced three drivers who violated traffic offences to two months imprisonment.
The three convicted drivers were sent to Ogwashi-Uku prison in  Aniocha South local government area of the state.
Presiding Magistrate Ghomorai Victoria while convicting them gave an option of fine to two of the violators while one was without the option of fine.
Magistrate Ghomorai, however, cautioned and discharged three drivers who violated traffic regulations, while another 109 violators who pleaded liable to traffic offences paid fine.
The Sector Commander RS5.2, Asaba, Corps Commander Rindom T. Kumven, who spoke after the conviction, said the drivers were charged with different offences “ranging from worn out tyres, assault, over loading, lack of caution signs, fire extinguisher, dangerous driving and driving without licence.”
The Corps Commander said the offenders were arrested during a special operation at the last Muslim festival, Eid el-Kabir.
Kumven noted that the Command would not rest on its oars in making sure that the road was sanitised.
He said the special operations would be carried out every month with a mobile court to prosecute traffic offenders.
The Sector Commander further said the command has mobilised men and logistics to ensure safety on the road in the ember months.
He, however, appealed motorists to drive carefully by observing basic traffic rules, urging them to ensure that their vehicles are road worthy as well as possessing valid documents.
