FRSC organises free medicals outreach for drivers in Yenagoa

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the Bayelsa state command of Federal Road Safety Corps on Monday organised a free medical service for the drivers in the state.

Addressing participants at the exercise in Yenagoa, the sector commander, Ikechukwu Igwe, said the command decided to embark on the free medical health check to help the drivers know their health status.

He said the command noticed that drivers don’t have time to go to hospital and take care of their health.

 He said: ” during the first quarter of the year, medical checks was carried out among the drivers within the city  and discoveries were made as many drivers  suffered eye problems and some with hypethatis B.

“The drivers patronise medicine store that mix drugs for them without getting to the hospitals to know their health status,” he added.

Earlier, Dr. Fidelis Tarazibah Otokolo registrar community medicine, federal medical centre Yenagoa attributed some of the causes of heart failure to smoking, drinking, ageing, high blood pressure among other factors.

 The Doctor asked the drivers to always to check their health status regularly.
