Fuel scarcity: DPR warns marketers against hoarding

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Sokoto/ Kebbi states Zonal office Tuesday warned filling stations owners against selling above government approved prices.

Speaking with newsmen after visiting some filling stations in the Sokoto metropolis, the Controller, Zonal field operations, Alhaji Mohammed Makera, also warned against hoarding and under dispensing of the commodity. He  emphasised that his department would not hesitate to seal  any filling station found wanting

Makera acknowledged the fuel scarcity experienced over the weekend and assured that the long queues would soon disappear because, the department has received 35 truck load of fuel out of which 20 was meant for Sokoto metropolis

“There should be no panic buying between Monday and Tuesday. As  we received 35 truck load of fuel, 20 would be off loaded within the metropolis,”  the controller stated.

He said no filling station was sealed off during the exercise. He, however ,  called on the marketers to take precautionary measures against the spread of COVID-19  at their filling stations.

He advised the filling station owners not to allow congestion at filling stations.

“They should not allow congestion, they should device a way to control customers. At least, five people par pumping machine,” he said.
